On 6th August, management of Zee decided to withdraw all its content from Reliance Jio Digital Services. This move terminated the multi-year contract signed between the two in mid-2016. On 7th August, all 35 Zee channels including Zee TV, Zee Marathi, Zee Cinema, and all the others, went dark on Jio’s live TV app for Jio subscribers, Jio TV. Non-air shows and movies have also been removed by Zee from the library content.
ET was told by the Jio spokesperson that the company is dedicated to offering its customers the widest possible range of digital entertainment, application, and services options on its technology platforms. The spokesperson also confirmed that Reliance Jio is tirelessly connecting with all the members of the ecosystem to create a winning relation between broadcasters, consumers, and all key players.
Through Jio TV, subscribers can watch Live TV as well as 7 days prior to TV content. Many subscribers prefer the Live TV viewing from the app. At the AGM, Reliance Chairman, Mukesh Ambani also revealed that data consumption per month was 240 crore GB while video content consumption per month has grown too to 340 crore hours, on the Jio platform.
